Whitby Distillery Sloe Bottle Swap 2026

 The Sloe & Bottle Swap is back!

Autumn is on its way, the hedgerows are filling up, and we’re once again swapping sloes for gin.

Bring us your hand-picked sloes by 20th October 2026 and we’ll trade them for Whitby Gin.

This year’s sloes will go into our 2027 Whitby Sloe Gin.

How it works

1. Pick your sloes
Please seek permission where applicable. 

2. Clean & bag them
Remove leaves, stalks and any damaged fruit, then bring them in a clean, food-safe bag or tub.

Fresh or frozen is absolutely fine. If frozen, please keep them frozen until you drop them off.

3. Bring them to us
We’ll weigh them and swap them for gin on the spot.

Open: Monday–Sunday, 10am–4pm
Last drop-off: 20th October 2026

Your swap

• 2–4.99kg → 1 × Triple Pack+ 2 tonics

• 5–9.99kg → 2 × Triple Pack + 4 tonics

• 10kg+ → 1 × 70cl Whitby Gin + 8 tonics

Got a bumper crop? We’ll keep applying the tiers as your total weight increases.

Before you drop off

Please make sure your sloes are:

• Clean

• Free from leaves, stalks and twigs

• In a food-safe bag or container

• Kept frozen if you’ve already frozen them

We’ll give everything a quick check when you arrive.

You’ll also need to be 18+ to receive alcohol, and we may ask for ID.

FAQ

Do frozen sloes count by weight?
Yes. We weigh whatever you bring on the day.

Can I bring other berries?
Not this time. For 2026, we’re collecting sloes only.

Do I need permission to forage?
Yes. Because the fruit is being exchanged for a reward and used commercially, please make sure you have permission from the landowner or land manager.

Why do you need my details?
We’ll take a few basic details when you drop off so we can keep track of where our fruit has come from and contact you if you reserve next year’s Sloe Gin.

We won’t automatically add you to our marketing emails.

Can I drop off at weekends?
Yes. Botany Way is open Monday–Sunday, 10am–4pm.
